Specialty Items
Experienced in several methods of sculpting in media such as clay, wood carving, foam carving, plaster casting, and metal casting. Also able to create small scale custom vacu-form pieces (heat shaped plastic reliefs like the 3-d plastic Halloween and Christmas decorations you hang on doors). Also experienced in creating fiber optic effects such as twinkling stars (Like those seen at Rainforest Cafe) and signage (Like the pirate map in The Pirates of the Carribbean)
I was asked to create a model for the premier of Disney and Pixar's Cars at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte North Carolina on May 26th 2006 so that everone planning the event could get a feel for the scale. The tiny specs on the racetrack are actual cars. The model is roughly 3'wide x 2'deep and is at 1/500 scale.   That's the completed model in front of Dick Cook (Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios) and Humpy Wheeler (President and General Manager of Lowe's Motor Speedway).   I spent a few weeks working on props for The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest for the premier and for the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.   I built the four Audrey II puppets for the Upland High School production of Little Shop (see Set Design page) and then re-built the third and fourth puppets with steel frames for rental. Shown is the smallest plant puppet in action. The leaves wilt on cue and the mouth is operated like a hand puppet.   I built the four Audrey II puppets for the Upland High School production of Little Shop (see Set Design page) and then re-built the third and fourth puppets with steel frames for rental. Shown is the second plant complete with jacket and fake hand.   I built the four Audrey II puppets for the Upland High School production of Little Shop (see Set Design page) and then re-built the third and fourth puppets with steel frames for rental. Shown is the third plant operated by the puppeteer inside.   I built the four Audrey II puppets for the Upland High School production of Little Shop (see Set Design page) and then re-built the third and fourth puppets with steel frames for rental. This plant stands seven feet tall and the bottom jaw can support 200 pounds.   Sculpture (2000): Ceramic (18 tall)   The Fiber Optic Foot is vacuformed with fiber optics run through it to give the impression of exploding pain. The fibers change colors as the light emanates from a central point (similar in appearance to fiber optic fireworks.)   Carved from a block of styrofoam using a chainsaw and hotknife, then hardcoated and painted using waterbourne acrylics. (4' tall)   For a four song music and dance production, I was responsible for painting the body suits, making the ears and horns, and creating the large rock platform.   I made several vacu-form masks for the production including this one for the Lioness.   I was asked to fabricate a lightweight giraffe head and figure out how to secure it to the performer.   The Lion's head was also a custom sculpted vacu-form mask.
